New drug against Alzheimer’s in development

Alzheimer’s is diseases of people aged over 65 are particularly at risk. It leads to memory loss and often ends after a long period of suffering with the death of the sick.
Now a team from the Department of Neuroscience the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville developing a new drug for the treatment of the disease to develop, which differs from previous attempts to cure Alzheimer’s, the approach is different.
It is assumed that part of the brain damage of Alzheimer hence that certain proteins together. Existing drugs continued when an enzyme which produces these proteins. The new drug works against a similar way, those “good” cholesterol, and “bad” dismantle the “long pieces” of the amyloid beta protein are reduced and the production of “short” versions of the protein suggested that this not. The active ingredient is called GSM (for English gamma-secretase modulator).
